Our charity
Our selected charity for 2010/11 is World Vision. We chose World Vision because of the extraordinary work they undertake across the world in improving living conditions and future prospects for under-privileged children.
We felt that their philanthropic vision is closely aligned with our own commercial objectives: Whilst our corporate mission is to help financial services companies achieve growth by using the intelligence and knowledge we can place at their fingertips, World Vision's mantra is to create opportunities for improving knowledge and intelligence at the level of the individual, under-priviledged child. The similarity of our processes, in spite of the different motivations behind them, has encouraged us all to pledge our support to this excellent cause.
We're extremely proud to have been accepted as a corporate sponsor. As this is a new initiative for Matrix, we'll be looking at ways to explore and extend the ways in which we support World Vision. However, our basic promise is that for each firm that licences Financial-Clarity we will pledge to support a child through the World Vision sponsorship programme.
David Young, head of Marketing at Matrix Solutions said: "This is an excellent initiative for everybody concerned. Each company taking out a licence will get to see how their involvement with our Intelligence services is making a direct contribution to the welfare and wellbeing of under-privileged children across the globe. We’re excited about the endless possibilities involved in this kind of corporate sponsorship at a personal level.
We chose World Vision because their values reflect many of our own at Matrix Solutions. As an organisation we’re looking to be a leader in providing intelligence to the financial community, whilst World Vision are succeeding in creating opportunities to promote intelligence and knowledge at the level of the individual child. Long may our partnership with World Vision continue."
Laura Jones, representative at World Vision said: "We’re delighted to have Matrix as a company sponsorship partner and wish them luck with Financial-Clarity – we hope that they’ll be able to help improve the lives of many children across the globe as a result of their forward-thinking initiatives."
Matrix Marketing Man cycles length of the UK for World Vision
We’re delighted to announce that John Millington, Group Marketing Manager successfully completed a 960-mile cycle from John o'Groats to Lands End in aid of World Vision at the beginning of June. He decided to take on the challenge having never cycled more than 46 miles in one go: “I’m so pleased to have had the opportunity to take on such a big personal challenge, while benefitting more children in the World Vision scheme. It was a truly exhausting experience, through some fairly torrid conditions at times, but I got there in the end!”
John has raised nearly £900 for the charity and we're using this to sponsor another two children for at least another year. Jose Fernando from Honduras and Sarah Patric from Tanzania are the children pictured below:

Matrix Solutions join the 'send a smile' Christmas campaign
Matrix have been sponsoring over 25 children for quite some time now and we have found it an exciting experience. The total of our sponsorships has now risen to 28 and we are hoping to increase this figure even more during 2012.
We feel it is our responsibility to give something back to the communities that are not as privileged as we are. We can make a real difference to the lives of children today and thanks to World Vision our contribution makes an incredible impact.
For this reason Matrix also joined the 'send a smile' Christmas campaign organised by World Vision, which involved sending out Christmas cards to all of our sponsored children to make their Christmas time a little more special.
Traditionally, we have sent out Christmas cards to all of our clients, however this year we have decided to send our Christmas cheers via email. Instead, we chose to use the money, saved by not sending out the cards, to sponsor three more children - Leonid from Armenia, who is 6 years old and likes playing board games, Willian from Bolivia, who is 2 years old and likes ball games and Romena from Bangladesh, who likes playing with dolls.

9th February - Representative from World Vision visits our London Quarterly Business Briefing (QBB)
Sharon McLeod, Sponsorship Ambassador for World Vision, visited our London QBB to give a short talk and to thank us all for the excellent work we have done for the charity so far. She provided more insight into the projects they run throughout the Third World. She also shared a story of other sponsors who visit their sponsored children within their community.
To continue our support, we have decided to raise money by taking part in the Three Peaks Challenge this July. We will be attempting to conquer the mighty threesome in 24 hours: Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon. You will get a chance to sponsor us through a ‘just giving’ page so please feel free to make a donation to make life a better place for some of the less fortunate.
