Alex Bell
When did you join Matrix?
October 2011
Job title:
Marketing Executive
What does it involve?
The role is incredibly varied but primarily focuses on generating new content to promote Matrix’s products and services; whilst continually developing the company’s six different websites. Furthermore, it involves working very closely with the sales team; providing press, email and direct marketing campaigns to generate sales leads and grow overall sales. Finally, the role also gives me the opportunity to be involved with the company’s CSR project with World Vision, attend and manage seminars and internally/externally hosted events and last but not least work on new product launches for each of the different branches of the business.
What are you most looking forward to?
I’m really looking forward to working with David (Young) on the vast number of projects that the marketing department undertakes, getting to know everyone at Matrix and also the opportunity to demonstrate my creative flare. The job was particularly appealing because each day will provide a different set of challenges and opportunities and I am keen to start cementing relationships with Financial Journalists and interacting with clients. The location of the office is also amazing! The panoramic views of London are unreal.
And least looking forward to?
Getting to and from work during the Olympics next summer! It is going to be chaotic. No one needs the tube in their day when it’s hot, let alone when London is rammed to absolute capacity.
Describe yourself in 3 words:
Ambitious, Cheeky, Unique.
What's the best journey you've taken?
Hitchhiking to Amsterdam from Exeter with my best friend from University in my first year! We managed to get all the way to Holland using a combination of fifteen different lifts and even hitching a train! At the same time I don’t ever fancy doing it again! Also strongly considered was riding in a Monster Truck across the UK and Europe, being on a boat in Miami going through a tropical storm, and scuba diving at night time in Malaysia; which was somehow both incredibly relaxing and somewhat unsettling at the same time!
What gadget does the world need?
The world desperately needs a mass produced and mass marketed silent vacuum cleaner! The noise they make has to be in the top five most annoying noises of all time.
Favourite Quotation:
“Don’t go around saying the world owes you a living. The world owes you nothing. It was here first.”
